LG 600G Price Drop – $47 with free shipping

Last week I posted regarding the new price on the LG 600G at Walmart. Now, TracFone’s website has reduced it’s price to $49.99 as well. With TracFone’s free shipping AND a discount code for an additional $3 off, it’s now cheaper to buy directly from TracFone.

First, Click Here to find the phone at TracFone’s site. This order will automatically qualify for TracFone’s free shipping promotion since it’s over $35. When you are ready to check out, look for the promotional code box, and enter code 23444 to receive an additional $3 off. Select the cheapest shipping option (3-day ground), and your order total will be $46.99 plus tax.

Also, in case you need to review it, you can find my LG 600G review here.

Finally, in yesterday’s post I reported that some people had difficulty getting both free shipping and the $3 discount. After that post was released, I heard from a friend who knows a great deal about ordering from TracFone, and he had this to say:

When I [ordered] those w370s last month I put in the $ off code in the box. The top of the page said the free shipping code would be auto applied if the order met the criteria.
On the last page the order showed the shipping was added, then the shipping cost was removed, and the $ off discount was ALSO applied.
The free shipping auto-applies if the order is over $35; that leaves the code box empty for the $ off code. Perhaps some people don’t realize that when they choose the shipping method, there is a charge for that shipping placed on the order. Then if the order meets the $35 minimum, the shipping is taken off. It does not show as applying the free shipping code until the final page.
This info comes from someone who has placed many orders with TracFone for himself and friends who also use TracFone, and I believe that he is very knowledgeable about the process. Hopefully other readers will have similar success in double-dipping on these discounts.

I read the 600g displays caller id for icnoming call on its external display. Does it display the name if the number is in the directory or it only displays the phone number? Thanks.

If the number is associated with a name in the contacts, it will display both. When the phone is opened, if you have a picture ID assigned to the contact, it will display that as well.

It’s .3 units in both directions. Unfortunately, none of the newest TracFones have free incoming messages any more.

Just ordered the LG 600g and used promo code 23444 for the $3 discount. I received both the $3 discount and free shipping

I just got my new LG 600G Tracfone and it shows on the details that it has a flashlight, what and where is that? Also, is the 1000 contacts stored on the SIM card or on the phone? Do you recommend saving to the SIM card or the phone itself?

Hi Darlene – The LG 600g does NOT have a flashlight – I didn’t realize TracFone was still advertising it that way. It is a big disappointment, as I love my Nokia 1100 with flashlight, which I use at least once a day (comes in handy when walking through a dark house that is inhabited by three children under 6, and all their toys!). What you can do, though, is go to the notepad option under the tools menu. Select a new note, and you will have a screen that is mostly blank. That white screen will shed a lot of light. Sorry, I know this isn’t the best, but hopefully it’s a helpful work-around.

Let me first say that your Tracfone reviews are by far the most helpful and detailed I’ve ever seen. Do you know whether the Tracfone LG 600g phones still have the Bluetooth capability you described in Part 2 of your review? I have just bought an LG 600g mostly for the bluetooth feature, and I’m having trouble connecting it to my Bluetooth-enabled PC. The manual on Tracfone’s site (http://www.tracfone.com/Common/English/Digital_Assets/32364.pdf) still says this should be possible. Any ideas?

Hi Jane – Have you enabled bluetooth by going to your phone’s menu and selecting “settings” followed by “bluetooth and then “bluetooth on/off?” This might be obvious, but it’s worth a shot.

Update: I was finally able to link up my LG 600 with my PC, but I did have to buy a USB adapter to do so. This seems kind of surprising with the internal bluetooth on the PC, but it made the two devices recognize each other right away. I was able to send pictures both to and from the phone easily and quickly. I would really like to explore adding ringtones and apps/games next. Any tips?

Hi pbushx2, thanks for the quick reply! Yes, of course I have done that, and I’ve also made both my phone and my PC “visible”.

A couple of things might prevent me form using Bluetooth: First, my LG600 is not yet activated, because I’m in the (slow) process of emailing my pictures off my old phone. Could the lack of activation be responsible for the lack of Bluetooth?

My PC is a Dell Studio 1535 laptop with a Dell TrueMobile 370 bluetooth mini-card inside it. I don’t have another Bluetooth device that I could test it with, but by all indications, all drivers are installed on the PC side and the Bluetooth indicator light is on.

My question is: would I still need a USB dongle adapter if I already have an inner Bluetooth card? Surely, that should be enough, right?

  11. 13 pbushx2 June 11, 2009 at 2:23 pm

Jane – The phone doesn’t need to be activated in order for the bluetooth to work. I have an inactive 600g at the moment, and the bluetooth works on that. And, I would also agree that your internal bluetooth device should be sufficient. I guess a dongle might not be a bad idea, though, if you’re all out of troubleshooting ideas. I have purchased a couple from dealextreme.com for under $3 a piece with free shipping (though it will take a week or two as they ship from Hong Kong). At that price, if it’s really bugging you, it might be worth a shot. You could also first check that you have good bluetooth software on your machine. Download.com has some free options that might be worth a shot.
Sorry I don’t have any really good answers, but I’m stumped by this one.

Great. First I buy the phone, then I find this page. ;) No free shipping for me, and no promo code, but I did get it at the $49.99 pricetag.

Hi Jane – Guess I replied out of line a little while ago, not realizing you had already resolved the problem with connecting the two devices. These threaded comments have me messed up a little! Anyway, I think that I googled “java games for cell phone” or something like that – maybe I looked up the Java version number first, I don’t remember. I do think that at least one of the files I downloaded had a .jar and/or .jad file extension.
