TracFone Airtime Deal at KMart

Sorry to bother you with my third post this week, but there is another great deal that I need to share with you.

If you happen to have a KMart near you and don’t mind braving the crowds during the after-Thanksgiving sales, you might be able to score a fantastic deal on TracFone airtime cards. KMart’s advertising circular for their Friday/Saturday deals shows that ALL TracFone airtime cards will be sold at 50%. I’ve never seen anything like this, so now is the time to stock up on minutes.

To find the ad I’m referring to, follow this link:

Kmart Ad for Friday, Nov. 28 and Saturday, Nov. 29.

The TracFone info is near the top right corner of the page. They also offering a Motorola W260 with accessory pack for $9.99, as well as a cheap Bluetooth headset for $9.99, also shown on the same page.

If you can’t get to a Kmart, I’ve also heard that Walmart will honor competitors’ ads. So if you prefer to do it that way, you can take in a copy of the KMart ad and ask Walmart to match Kmart’s price for the phone or airtime. I don’t know Walmart’s rules about matching prices though, so you’ll have to check on that for yourself.

Hope this helps you save some money. Happy Thanksgiving!

Bundled Bargains

A couple of my recent posts have reported on the great promotional codes that are currently available (check the links on the right side of this page, if you haven’t already read those posts). If you want to make use of the current excellent list of bonus codes, there are also some appealing phone + airtime bundles available on the TracFone website. Each of these deals is offered at the regular of the airtime card alone, making the phone free. You may be thinking that you don’t need a phone, just the minutes. But, I have an offer that can make it even better for you.

If you want to buy a bundle and use only the airtime card, I will buy the phone from you for $10. [EDIT 2/17/09: I am no longer buying the phones from this deal, but you still may sell those phones elsewhere to reduce your cost per minute]. Obviously, this will reduce your price even further. Alternatively, if you’d rather not sell the phone to me, you might also see a phone on the list that you’d like to give to someone as a gift, or perhaps donate to a local charity of your choice. Either way, this works out to be a pretty good deal especially in light of the great bonus codes I posted last week.

Another thing to keep in mind is that you can still, through the end of November, use coupon code 23444 when you check out to receive $3 off your TracFone order. And, if the order exceeds $35, you will receive free shipping.

Let’s take a look at how an example transaction might look. One of the deals listed on the website is a 120 minute card plus a Motorola C261 for $29.99. If you were to purchase two of those bundles, you would qualify for free shipping. You could then use code 23444 to save $3. Your total price would be $56.98, plus whatever your local sales tax is. Then when you receive the phones, you can send them to me and I’ll send you $20.

So your total for two 120 minute cards will be $36.98 plus tax and the cost of mailing the phones to me. If you have Double Minutes for Life on your current phone, that would be 480 total minutes, plus any bonus codes you can use, for around $40, making your cost per minute less than 8 cents.

Below is a list of the bundles currently available on TracFone’s site, followed by the ZIP codes where you may find the deals if they don’t show up in your own area. So to find the deals first click here to open up TracFone’s ZIP code entry page, then enter your own zip. If that doesn’t give you the deal you are looking for, you might also want to try the ZIPs that I have listed below. Keep in mind, though, that doing this might result in phones that don’t get great network coverage in your area, specifically in the case of those phones NOT found in zip 65046 or 57472.

Here is a list of the bundles currently available:

Phone Airtime Price ZIP
Moto V170 (recond.) 120 min $29.99 65046
Moto C261 120 min $29.99 54701
Kyocera K126C 120 min $29.99 57472
Moto W370 (recond.) 1 year, 400 min $99.99 65046
LG 225 1 year, 400 min $99.99 65046
Moto W175 1 year, 400 min $99.99 65046
LG 200C 1 year, 400 min $99.99 57472
Moto W370 (recond.) 1 year, 400 min $99.99 65046
Moto C139 1 year, 400 min $99.99 65046
Moto W370 (recond.) 450 min $79.99 65046
Moto C261 1 yr, 800 min DMFL $139.99 65046

If you end up deciding to sell one of the phones to me, you can get in touch with me at this link.

Also, if you happen to learn about any “Black Friday” deals on TracFone products, please share them here in the comments section. I haven’t searched for any deals in stores because those offered by TracFone are pretty decent at the moment, but if you happen to find any I’d be happy to hear about them and maybe make a last-minute Thanksgiving entry to share any comments in a separate post.

Great Promotional Code

A few days ago I posted the most current bonus codes that I added to the database. I just wanted to take a minute here to share the news that one of them is even better than advertised. Code 52967 is supposed to give 100 bonus minutes on a 450 minute card. But, it actually works with ANY denomination airtime card. I used it myself today on a 60-minute card. So if you have any airtime cards that you’ve been holding on to, now might be a good time to add them, using this code. But also keep in mind that this code will, according to TracFone, expire 12/02/08.

Here’s the link to my prior post, if you want to see all of the codes I added at that time.

Also, if you need to find some deals on airtime cards, stay tuned. I hope to be back with another post within 24 hours explaining how you can add minutes at a GREAT price.

TracFone Promotional Codes

Many New Promotional Codes

I’ve updated the TracFone Promotional Code Database once again. There are a couple of interesting additions to the list, including six “Thanksgiving Airtime Deals” that come directly from TracFone’s website. Here are all the codes I’ve added to the list this time around:

  • 84232 – 250 bonus minutes on a 1-year, 400 minute card
  • 61500- 250 bonus minutes on a 1-year, 800 minute, Double for Life card
  • 87715- 50 bonus minutes on a 200 minute card
  • 52967 – 100 bonus minutes on a 450 minute card
  • 87163 – 10% off first month of 50-minute value plan
  • 39644 – 10% off first month of family value plan
  • 56217 – 150 bonus minutes on 1 year card.
  • 52268 – 40 bonus minutes on a 200 minute card
  • 55346 – 200 on 1-year, 800 minute, Double for Life card

The first six codes in the list above are those that come directly from TracFone’s website. You can find the link to that page here. There are a couple of especially nice codes on that list, particularly the 250 minutes on the 1-year cards, and the 100 minutes bonus on the 450 minute card. If you have double minutes for life and use one of those codes, you’ll be picking up a good chunk of minutes at a pretty decent price.

It is important, though, to realize that all of the codes in TracFone’s Thanksgiving list are stated to expire December 2. Certainly we’ve seen a lot of evidence in the past that codes don’t always (or even usually) expire when TracFone tells us they will. But if you are counting on using one of these codes, you might want to make sure you get it in before the deadline, just to be on the safe side.

Also, regarding the value plan codes, there is some fine print on the TracFone page regarding the situations that these codes apply. If you are interested, check out the fine print by clicking on the link earlier in this post.

And, once again, the complete list is found here: TracFone Promotional Codes

Black Friday Deals, LG 600g charger, and comparing bluetooth TracFones

“Black Friday” deals

Some stores are already posting their advertising circulars for Black Friday, AKA the day after Thanksgiving. I haven’t put a lot of time into researching yet, but there has been one interesting TracFone deal rumor that I’ve heard.

The ad for Rite-Aid has been released, and a portion of the ad shows a Moto w175 and a 60-minute card next to a price tag of $9.99. It’s unclear at this point whether the $9.99 price refers to the phone only, your choice of either item for that price, or if it’s BOTH the phone and the card for $9.99. If it’s both, that’s an amazing deal, but I’m not counting on it. If the card can be purchased for $9.99, that’s a great deal, too. Hopefully we’ll find out more in the next 10 days, and I’ll post more here if I find out more.

If you happen to find out about TracFone or Net10 deals at other stores, please post them in the comments section. I’ll plan to do a Black Friday recap next week.

Car Charger for LG 600g

Many thanks to reader “Pamsaunt” for sharing this one: she was able to find a car charger for the LG 600g , for just over $5 total, here:

http://usacellularplus.mybisi.com/product/0/For-LG-600g-Tracfone-Car-Charger-LG600g_345357.html

I have not personally ordered from this site, but if you are in the market for this charger, give it a look. Don’t forget to use code 10off to save another 10%.

Compare the Motorola w376g to the LG 600g

I found a new site called SlideShare, and I put up a new article there comparing the two bluetooth TracFones. I think it will be helpful for those of you considering purchasing one of these phones for yourself or someone you know. SlideShare is a little like YouTube, except the content is PowerPoint presentations rather than video clips. I thought this format would work well for comparing two similar products, so I put the article into a presentation format. If you are interested, check it out by clicking on the link here.

TracFone Handset Deals

I haven’t come across much news lately in the way of promotional codes or new phones. But, there are a couple of new TracFone deals that I wanted to alert you to, in case you happen to be out shopping this weekend.

Nokia 1112 with 60 extra minutes free

Both of these deals are on phones, and available in brick-and-mortar stores only at this point, rather than online. The first one is the old Nokia 1112, which some people have reported finding on clearance at Sears stores for $4.97 or $3.97. This is of extra value because most of the 1112’s sold at Sears come with 60 extra minutes on activation – confirm this on the packaging if you are going to buy this phone. The likelihood of finding this phone any more is probably a long shot, but I thought it was worth pointing out in case you happen to be going to Sears anyway, or are looking for this model.

Double Minute Developments

The other deal I’ve come across is a new selection of phones with Double Minutes for Life (DMFL), currently available only at Walmart. At various Walmart locations, people have reported finding the Motorola W175 for $9.88, the Kyocera K126C for $9.88, and/or the LG 200C for $17.88, all with special labeling on the packaging indicating that the phones will be enrolled in DMFL upon activation. If you can find any of these deals, they are all good bargains – especially, in my opinion, the LG 200C, which some people have reported finding with a free accessory kit as well as DMFL, all for $17.88. [EDIT 11/9/08 - Thanks to reader Mike, who took the time to share that he has found similar DMFL phones at a Dollar General store. If you are on the lookout for these phones and have a Dollar General nearby, you may want to take a look there.]

Also keep in mind that TracFone’s website is still offering the W370 (reconditioned) for $19.99, and the w376g for $29.99. Both of these phones have DMFL. For more info on these and other DMFL deals, check out this page.

I can’t say at this point whether the Walmart deals are evidence that ALL new TracFone models will include DMFL. On the one hand, it doesn’t seem to make a lot of sense any more to buy a $10 or $20 phone without DMFL, when TracFone’s website offers the w370 or the w376g, both with DMFL. So maybe TracFone has decided that all phones should now have DMFL, to allow customers to get started more cheaply but still receive the best price on minutes.

On the other hand, about a year ago Walmart had an exclusive offer of the Motorola C139 with DMFL for about $15 (which was then the regular price on the C139). No other stores offered such a deal before or since, as far as I know. So maybe these deals will always be Walmart exclusives, or maybe TracFone will eventually offer these and other entry level phones with DMFL for the normal price of the phone alone. As soon as I find out more info, I’ll pass it along.

TracFone SIM Card Questions Answered

I get a fair amount of questions regarding TracFone and Net10 SIM cards. Here are some of the most common questions I hear:

  • What kind of info is stored on my SIM card?
  • I just bought a new phone. Can I just switch the SIM card from my old phone into my new phone, and be ready to use the new one?
  • Can I use an unlocked phone with TracFone service?
  • What do the numbers on my SIM card mean?

I’ve come across a web page that does a good job of answering those and other questions about SIM cards, and provides some more technical info about TracFone in general. Even if you don’t have any of those questions now, you might want to check out this page:

http://thejmart.com/siminfo.htm

Hopefully you will find it informative, and maybe it will save you some headaches in the future.
