Lois - Any TracFone can receive bonus minutes, if you use a promotional code when you add airtime. Each of the available promotional codes is valid with certain airtime cards. For example, if code 55555 is good for a 450 minute card, and you add a 60 minute card to your phone, you would not be able to use code 55555 since it does not apply to a 60 minute card. But there are other codes that DO apply to 60-minute cards.

And you can use the camera right now - you don't need any additional equipment. If you're looking for a guide of some sort, check out this online manual for your phone:

Hello, I am new to even having a cell phone let alone trying t learn how to get the most of it. Please tell me how would I be eligable to get bonus codes? Is there only certain cards or telephones that would be appropriate for this? Is there a site for dummies that would explain this and other things for me like where would I be able to buy the stuff to use my camera feature of the LG600?

Elodie -
I think that there are plans to expand the Straight Talk coverage very soon. They did a limited launch initially in order to work out some of the kinks before making it widely available. But my understanding is that it's been a commercial success in the initial roll-out, and they are definitely going to be expanding. At that price point, I think it's going to be a BIG winner with consumers. I'll plan to do another post about it as more info is available, but for now I don't want to get people too excited about it before I have enough details.

:( Big bummer! With your double minute card Tracfone now does not double the minutes you PURCHASE in the "maximize your purchase" offered either on the web or over the phone. They have always doubled these minutes in the past. The web site has been changed and the box that comes up with the terms and conditions was not working.(Neither were any of the other boxes) I ended up calling to purchase the 450 minutes card instead. I have always ended up with 1,080 minutes since I purchase both the additional 30 minutes for $5 and the 60 minutes for $10 plus whatever bonus minutes I got from a code. I pitched a fit and said that I would be switching to a different company if I was not going to be getting fewer minutes for my money. They did double them on a one time basis. I've always paid down in the 8 cent per minute range. I wish Straight Talk was available in this area. I would snap that up in a heart beat!

Ron - that won't work. Google voice does something kind of like that, by giving you one "hub" phone number that redirects to up to 5 different phone numbers. But two phones cannot be programmed with the same number.

Bonus code 14938 worked for me on 8/05/09. Thanks for posting those great bonus codes. Makes even more "cents" to have a TracFone.
