Samsung r451c for Net10, Samsung Accessories

The Samsung r451c is now available from Net10’s website, but is only listed for sale in ZIP codes with no GSM coverage. A couple of zip codes like this are 54747, 57474, and 63501.  Check it out here to see the r451c, and use the zip codes I mentioned to see the phone come up. And if you want to order, don’t worry about coverage – this model is not area-specific like some GSM phones are. As long as your area has CDMA coverage (usually Verizon or Alltel), the r451c will work in your area.

One interesting thing I noticed there – the Samsung r451c, like the T401g, is advertised as having three cent text messages (i.e. texts cost .3 units each). I haven’t seen this model in a store yet, so I don’t know whether the packaging confirms the lower text messaging cost. Either way, it’s something worth considering if you’re a current Net10 user or if you’re a TracFone customer that has stayed with Trac due to the lower text messaging cost.

If you’re currently using the LG 200c, LG 3280, Kyocrea k126, Nokia 2126, or Motorola v60i, among other CDMA models too numerous to mention here, I think you’ll be blown away with the features of the Samsung 451c. It will provide the same coverage as those other models I mentioned above, and you’ll get a lot of those features that have been missing from TracFone’s lineup for hte last several years, including a camera, bluetooth, and mp3 ringtones, not to mention an mp3 player and QWERTY keyboard.

Another thing I wanted to mention here is that I’ve found a website that offers a bunch of accessories at pretty reasonable prices. This may be helpful to all users, but I’m bringing it up now especially because it may be helpful to people that bought one of the new Samsung or LG phones recently. As I documented in my r451c and T401g info, those Samsung models require special accessories for headsets and chargers, and bargaincell.com has the best prices I’ve seen for these items.

Here are a few direct links I thought might be helpful:

All Samsung accessories.

Samsung Audio to 3.5mm headset adapter.

Samsung stereo headset with mic.

Finally, I need to point out that I have not personally ordered any of these items, and I am not affiliated with this vendor in any way. I did, however, check resellerratings.com to see how other consumers rate bargaincell, and the reviews were very positive.

Is there any way to activate a net 10 cdma phone in an area where net 10 will only sell gsm? I live outside of a city that has cdma and gsm coverage, but I can only get a cdma signal out here. Net 10 will not sell me a cdma phone and told me that if I bought one, they will not activate for me. Thanks for any help on a way around this. Mark nutsnbolts76@gmail.com

Mark, as long as you have Verizon coverage, you can use a CDMA phone. I bet Straight Talk, a TracFone and NEt10 sister company, will not hesitate to sell you a CDMA phone (Straight Talk is CDMA onlye). Use the zips I recommended in the post to find and order a CDMA phone. I too am in an area where Trac/Net10 do not offer CDMA on their website, and I’ve activated many CDMA phones. I guess you got the answer they wanted you to believe, not a factual answer – maybe sometimes it’s better to not ask at all, than to ask and risk hearing an answer you don’t want to hear. but from experience, I can tell you that you will be able to use a CDMA phone in your area as long as you have Verizon or Alltel coverage.

I’d like to have your opinion. I’m either going to get the Samsung t401g or the r451c; which one is easier and more comfortable to text with? Also, does the R451c have a web brower key that can accidentally be pushed, or can it lock? Thanks!

marie – I prefer the t401g slightly for texting, as I like the keyboard better. A nice thing about the r451c is that if you accidentally press the browser key, the phone tells you to open the slider before it loads the browser. So it’s a safeguard against accidental browser activation.

Also, when deciding between the two, keep in mind the r451c is CDMA, while the T401g is a GSM model.

Can I order this phone (Samsung R451C) from Net10 and then activate it on straighttalk?

I tried the zip codes you said to show the cdma phone, but it didn’t show up. Only the samsung t401g did. Can you help?

Ok never mind. It was coming up, but it comes up with the picture of the Samsung t401g, so i was getting confused.

Has anyone purchased accereries for this phone? I am getting one for my son for christmas. It will be on sale for 39.99 at Best Buy for Black Friday, and I wanted to go ahead and order the headphone adapter, data cable, and micro SD card. Is there a more well known phone that is capitable with the T401? I am having trouble locating these items specifically for the T401.

Anita – The headphone adapter and data cable is somewhat universal within the SAmsung lineup. Try searching on “Samsung” followed by the accessory type you are looking for, and it should come up. I think the “BlackJack” is a common samsung phone whose accessories are compatible with the r451c. And for the microSD, it needn’t be “compatible” with the r451c. Any card should work in this phone.

Is it possible to transfer Word.doc files to the Samsung r451c via USB or memory card? I can’t justify the cost of an air card for my laptop but if I could transfer Word and, to a lesser degree, Excel files to the phone and email them from the phone, that would be super helpful.

Also, I might have overlooked it in your reports, but does the 451c play nice with web email accounts?

Peggy, I no longer have this phone so I can’t answer your question about word/excel files.
Regarding web email, my gmail and hotmail accounts worked fine, but I had a strange error when I tried to access yahoo (I believe it was a 503 error or something, but don’t recall specifically). Other were able to get Yahoo working on their own 451, but I frankly didn’t try that hard.
